Garden 1 is located on the grounds of Sunshine Care Assisted Living in Poway, CA. It is part of the Backyard Produce Project. Sunshine Care provides the land, the water, and the expertise of its Director of Horticulture, Roy Wilburn.
Garden 1 was created in spring 2010 as four 40 foot rows. The following spring, an Eagle Scout candidate doubled its size to eight 40 foot rows. We follow organic gardening practices. The garden is tended by volunteers, with all produce donated to local families in need.
